The short version
Biladi is not a law firm and does not practice law in Illinois or anywhere in the United States. We do not handle cases, transactions or other matters in the United States; we work from the United States on matters in Palestine, Jordan and Syria. Nothing on this website is legal advice. Reading this site, sending us a message, or booking a consultation does not create an attorney–client relationship or any professional relationship with us.
1. We are not a law firm
Biladi Cross-Border Consultants (“Biladi,” “we,” “us”) is a cross-border management and coordination company. We are not a law firm, we are not a licensed legal services provider in the State of Illinois or any other U.S. state, and our staff are not acting as your attorneys.
Under the Illinois Attorney Act (705 ILCS 205/1), only attorneys licensed in Illinois may practice law in this state. Biladi does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, representation before any U.S. court or agency, or any other service that constitutes the practice of law in the United States. If you need advice about U.S. law, you must consult an attorney licensed in your state.
2. No attorney–client relationship
Using this website, submitting the contact form, booking a consultation, or
sending us an email does not create an attorney–client relationship, a fiduciary relationship, or any
engagement between you and Biladi. No relationship exists until we have both signed a written
engagement agreement describing the scope of the work and the fees.
Because we are not a law firm, communications with Biladi are generally
not protected by attorney–client privilege and may not be confidential in the legal sense.
Do not send us information you consider privileged or highly sensitive before an engagement is in
place. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle what you do send.
3. What we actually do
Our role is to manage and coordinate. We receive your request, open and organize a file, identify the right professionals in the relevant country, instruct them on your behalf, follow the progress of the matter, and report back to you in a language you understand.
All legal work in Palestine, Jordan, or Syria is performed by attorneys independently licensed in those jurisdictions. Those attorneys are not licensed to practice law in Illinois or anywhere in the United States, and nothing they provide should be treated as advice on U.S. law.
4. Independent professionals
The attorneys, agents, valuers, and other specialists we work with are independent professionals, not employees, partners, or agents of Biladi. They exercise their own professional judgment, and they are governed by the licensing and ethics rules of their own jurisdictions.
We select and coordinate these professionals with care, but we do not control their professional judgment and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, errors, delays, or advice. Any claim relating to professional services rendered abroad lies against the professional who rendered them.
5. Our fees
Fees paid to Biladi are for management, coordination, translation, administration,
and reporting services. They are not payment for legal representation, and Biladi does not share in,
split, or take a percentage of any legal fee charged by an attorney. Attorneys' fees are agreed
separately between you and the attorney. We do not pay or receive referral fees for the recommendation
of legal services.
The consultation fee is $75, payable in advance to confirm your appointment. It is a fee for an intake and coordination consultation — an assessment of your situation and how we may be able to assist — and is not a fee for legal advice or legal representation. If you engage Biladi for a matter, the consultation fee is credited in full against your service fee. The fee is refunded in full if you cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment, if we cancel or reschedule, or if we are unable to accept your matter. It is not refunded if you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment or do not attend. If you need to reschedule and none of our available times are suitable, you may choose either a full refund or a credit for the full fee toward a future appointment; credits do not expire. Payments are processed by Square; we do not receive or store your card details.
6. No guarantee of outcome
We cannot and do not guarantee any particular result in any case, claim,
registration, transaction, or administrative process. Outcomes depend on the facts of your matter, the
law and practice of the relevant jurisdiction, the conduct of other parties, and the decisions of
courts and government bodies, none of which are within our control.
Any description of past matters, results, or client experiences on this site is
illustrative only. Prior results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in your matter.
7. Not financial, tax, investment, or real estate advice
Our asset and economic services involve organizing valuations, coordinating management of property, and helping you understand options. They are not investment advice. Biladi is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, bank, money transmitter, tax adviser, or accountant, and nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any asset or security.
Biladi is not a licensed real estate broker in Illinois and does not provide brokerage services in the United States. For advice on the U.S. tax treatment of foreign property, inheritance, or transfers, consult a qualified U.S. tax professional.
8. Foreign law changes
Law and administrative practice in Palestine, Jordan, and Syria differ from one
another, vary by locality, and change — sometimes without notice and sometimes because of political or
security conditions. Any general information on this site about procedures abroad is provided for
orientation only, may be out of date, and is not a substitute for advice on your specific matter.
9. Sanctions and legal compliance
Our services are subject to United States law, including sanctions and export-control regulations administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and applicable anti-money-laundering requirements. Some transactions involving certain countries, entities, or individuals are restricted or prohibited. We screen matters for compliance and may decline, suspend, or discontinue any engagement, without liability, where we believe proceeding would breach applicable law. Nothing on this site is an offer to provide services where it would be unlawful to do so.
10. Website content is provided “as is”
The content of this website is general information about our services. We make no
warranty, express or implied, that it is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your situation,
and we may change it at any time without notice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim
all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and
non-infringement. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything you read here
without seeking appropriate professional advice.
11. Third-party links and content
This site may link to or embed content from third parties, including a
consultation-booking calendar and video content. We do not control those services and are not
responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Illinois law, Biladi and its owners, officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, property, or opportunity, arising out of your use of this website or reliance on its content. Nothing in this disclaimer limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Our liability under any signed engagement agreement is governed by the terms of that agreement.
13. This is not attorney advertising
Biladi is not a law firm and does not practice law, so this website is not attorney advertising and is not a solicitation for legal representation. It describes management and coordination services only.
14. Governing law
This disclaimer and your use of this website are governed by the laws of the
State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute arising out
of or relating to this website shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in
Cook County, Illinois. If any provision of this disclaimer is held unenforceable, the remaining
provisions remain in full force.
